One of you is on wages. The other has an ABN. Money from the business lands whenever a client pays, and nobody's quite sure how much of it can go towards the mortgage and how much belongs to the ATO.

This bundle holds the same Fortnightly Couples Budget and the same three Sole Trader tracker editions that are sold on their own in our other listings, so you don't need those as well.

This bundle is two separate spreadsheets that work side by side. The Sole Trader Tax and BAS Tracker tells the ABN holder how much of each payment to put aside for tax and GST, and what's left to keep. The Fortnightly Couples Budget then plans the household around both incomes: who moves what to the bills account, groceries and savers each payday.

Which tracker edition do I get?

All three. Your download has the Side Hustle and Sole Trader, Tradie, and Rideshare and Delivery editions, each as an example copy and a BLANK copy. Use the one that fits and ignore the rest.

Who it's for

  • Australian households where one partner has an ABN (full time or on the side) and the other is on wages.
  • Couples who want the tax money kept separate before the household budget sees it.
  • The partner who has ended up doing both sets of books.

Who it's not for

  • Companies, trusts, partnerships or businesses with employees.
  • Anyone who wants bank sync, invoicing or full accounting software.
  • Apple Numbers users.

How they fit together

  1. The ABN holder adds each payment on Money In and moves the tax amount to a separate tax account.
  2. Decide on a regular amount the business pays you each fortnight or month, comfortably under the "Yours to keep" figure on Tax Pot.
  3. Type that amount in as your pay on the budget's Our Pay tab. The Payday Plan does the rest.

What you get

The Fortnightly Couples Budget v2.0 (10 tabs): Dashboard, Start Here, Our Pay, Bills and Spending, Buckets, Payday Plan, Bills Buffer, Fortnight Check-in, Christmas, Settings. Light and dark versions included.

The Sole Trader Tax Set-Aside and BAS Tracker FY2026-27 v2.0 (11 tabs), in all three editions: Dashboard, Start Here, Setup, Money In, Money Out, Car Kms, BAS Quarters, Tax Pot, Accountant Summary, Lists, Rates.

Every file opens on its Dashboard, so the first thing you see is the big picture: take-home, moved to accounts and left to spend on the budget, and ahead or short on the tax pot.

Each zip has a step-by-step setup video that walks through the three steps on Start Here.

Ten spreadsheet files in all: the budget as an example and a BLANK copy, each in light and dark, and each tracker edition as an example and a BLANK copy. They arrive as four zip folders. On Windows, right-click a zip and pick Extract All. On a Mac, double-click it.

Works in

  • Made for Microsoft Excel (2019 or later, or Microsoft 365) and Google Sheets. Not for Apple Numbers.
  • To use Google Sheets (free), upload the .xlsx to your Google Drive and open it with Google Sheets.
  • No macros, no add-ons, no bank login. Your numbers stay on your computer or in your own Google Drive.
  • A computer or laptop is best. A phone is fine for a quick look, not for setting up.

After you buy

  1. Your download link arrives by email straight after checkout.
  2. Download the files in a web browser (Chrome, Safari or Edge) on a computer.
  3. Watch the step-by-step setup video first. It walks through the three steps on Start Here.
  4. Open the example copy and have a look around, starting on the Dashboard. When you're ready, open the BLANK copy and start on the tracker's Setup tab, then the budget's Our Pay tab. Prefer a dark screen? Use the DARK copies of the budget.
  5. Stuck? Reply to that email or write to kitchentablesums@gmail.com. I'll help with how the sheet works. I usually reply within a day or two.

Updates

Buy the FY2026-27 version and the FY2027-28 update is free. I'll email it to you before 1 July 2027.

Questions people ask

Q: Do the two files link to each other?

A: No, on purpose. They're separate files so the business money and the household money stay separate. You type one number across: the regular amount the business pays you.

Q: Is the tracker set for this financial year?

A: Yes, 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027, with the rates and due dates on its Rates tab.

Q: Can you tell me what to claim or how much to pay myself?

A: I can't, sorry. I'm not a registered tax agent or a financial adviser. I can help with how the sheets work. For your own situation, ask a registered tax agent.

Q: We're both sole traders. Does it still work?

A: The budget works for any two pays. Each tracker is for one person and one business, so you'd each use your own copy of the edition that fits. Email kitchentablesums@gmail.com before you buy if you're unsure.

Q: What if I only need one of them?

A: Both are in the shop on their own. The bundle only makes sense if your household has wages and an ABN.

Q: Is there a dark version?

A: The budget comes in light and dark. The tax tracker comes in the light look only.

The small print

The Tax Tracker gives estimates only. It uses ATO rates for 2026-27 as published on 13/10/2026 and the numbers you type in. It's general information, not tax, financial or legal advice. I'm not a registered tax agent or BAS agent and I don't hold a financial services licence. Check your actual figures with the ATO or a registered tax agent before you lodge anything. The Couples Budget is a budgeting tool, not financial advice. This calculator is not intended to be relied on for making a decision about a financial product (such as a bank account, offset account or loan). Consider getting advice from a financial services licensee before making any financial decision.

Not affiliated with or endorsed by the ATO.

Personal use licence for the buyer. Using the budget at home with your partner is fine. Please don't share or resell the files.

I used AI tools to help build these sheets. Every formula was checked against a separate calculation using Australian test scenarios before release.
